[ARCHIVED] Hickory Township scoops up Cranberry patrol car

Normally, Cranberry auctions off its police patrol cars when they hit 100,000 miles. Cranberry police unit 462 – a 2010 Crown Victoria outfitted with Ford’s beefy Police Interceptor package – was approaching that point when Hickory Township Police Chief Mike Vitel contacted the Cranberry PD with an offer to immediately buy the car for use by his own Beaver County community’s police force for $5,000. At its meeting on November 6, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved the sale, which is permitted under provisions of the state’s Second Class Township Code. Ford ended production of its Crown Vic line several years ago. Cranberry has since replaced the unit with a Dodge Charger.
