The Township’s Chief of Fire and Emergency Services will offer insight on the Community Response Team and how it is helping residents.
Scott Garing will participate in a webinar titled “Creating a ‘Buddy System’ for At-Risk Persons: A How-To for Communities” at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 16. The event is hosted by Sustainable Pittsburgh.
The Community Response Team pairs volunteers with those in need of essential items like groceries and prescriptions. Additionally, it uses monetary donations to help provide essential items for those facing financial hardship.
Garing will join panelists Dave Breingan, Executive Director of Lawrenceville United and Zaheen Hussain, Director of Sustainability at New Sun Rising. Those organizations have started similar programs in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The three will share their processes, forms, experiences, and other tools necessary to start this program in other communities.
