Cranberry’s parks are the crown jewel of the Township, often cited as a major attraction for those living or visiting the area.
Now, the Township is looking ahead at how to further grow and expand those park offerings and make the best use of the space.
At the June 2 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board will consider a contract with Pashek Associates to begin the creation of a Comprehensive Recreation, Parks & Open Space Plan. The cost is supported 50% by a matching grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The current Plan was created in 2012 and represents the municipality’s continued investment in the health of the community and quality of the natural environment. As demographic trends have shifted a new plan is needed.
The proposed planning process will involve research and public input to identify the current recreational needs of a growing population.
The process includes the potential creation of an Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee for the planning process, which will also be considered June 2.
