The Cranberry Township Police Department has received several calls regarding a demonstration scheduled for this Saturday in our area. The Township is aware of the planned event, and we are providing the following information as it's essential to keep residents informed.
Some social media posts have inaccurately labeled this event as a "riot." We want to be clear: this is not the case. The Cranberry Township Police Department has communicated with the event organizers, and the protest is planned as a peaceful demonstration.
Event Details:
- Date/Time: Mid-Day, Saturday, June 14
- Location: Intersection of Route 228, Route 19, and Freedom Road
To ensure community safety and minimize disruption, we encourage the following:
- Avoid the Area. Use alternate routes to avoid the intersection during the event.
- Do Not Engage. Refrain from interacting with protestors. Remain neutral and respectful, and observe from a distance if necessary.
- Stay Calm and Aware. Be alert to your surroundings. Call 911 to report any suspicious or unsafe activity.
- Limit Social Media Sharing. Avoid posting or sharing misinformation or inflammatory content. Share only verified updates.
Local and state law enforcement agencies will be present to ensure the event remains peaceful and safe for everyone, including the motoring public. While we recognize that people may hold differing views, we ask all residents to stay non-confrontational and allow the group to exercise their right to a peaceful demonstration.
Let's prioritize the safety, unity, and respect that define our community by staying calm, informed, and considerate of one another.
Sincerely,
Kevin Meyer, Chief of Police
