Cranberry Township recently updated the Comprehensive Recreation, Parks, and Open Space Plan.

It is the first update since 2012.

The plan is a powerful tool that provides direction to enhance the quality of Cranberry Township’s recreational opportunities, park facilities, and trails. This Plan helps leaders make decisions about park use and development, programs, budgeting, and capital investment needed for short- and long-term recreation and conservation goals for the community.

The Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space was created using the following guiding principles:

• Listening to the community
• Identifying key issues to address
• Defining a vision for the future
• Developing implantable strategies

The process included extensive public engagement via public and study committee meetings, key person interviews, social media outreach, and a digital questionnaire.

The Plan received approval from the Board of Supervisors in March 2024 and focuses on the quality and diversity of parks and facilities, the corridors of connection and open space, and innovative programs to enhance the quality of life.
